In 2019, Felbridge was granted permission for a 14 000 m² facility in Stellenbosch, with their licence allowing for the cultivation, import and export of medical cannabis. They brought us on board as their greenhouse partner for this pioneering project that presented several challenges. Not only would medical cannabis be a new crop for the region with many unknowns, we would also be working within existing infrastructure on a confined site.
In 2020, we began upgrading 8 000 m² of existing Vegtech Netafim structures and designed and built a new 6 000 m² facility to allow for year-round medical cannabis production. The project was completed on a turnkey basis and included the following elements to give the growers ultimate flexibility and ensure flowering throughout the year:
